The Louisville Metro Housing Authority (LMHA) has been awarded 129 Emergency Housing Vouchers (EHV) from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.
To be eligible for an EHV, an individual or family must meet one of the following four eligibility categories:
- Experiencing homelessness;
- At risk of experiencing homelessness;
- Recently homeless and for whom providing rental assistance will prevent the family’s homelessness or having high risk of housing instability; or
- Fleeing, or attempting to flee, domestic violence, dating violence, sexual assault, stalking, or human trafficking.
Please click here for the definitions of homeless and at-risk of homelessness
The availability of EHVs is managed through a direct referral process. Families who believe they may be eligible for EHV assistance should contact:

Common Assessment is a program to identify the housing and service needs of homeless individuals. Common Assessment is not a housing program but may be able to help connect you to resources and agencies that might best serve your needs. You will complete a short survey about your homelessness, health, and other needs.
